IDOL Tournament: Semifinals - David Archuleta VS Kelly Clarkson
.. and they're down to just 4. This is insane! In a matter of days, we will finally have DAM Nation's First IDOL Tournament winner! But for us to find out who will battle it out in the Grand Finale, let's get it on with our first showdown. Season 7 Runner-up David Archuleta going up against the original American Idol Kelly Clarkson. This is going to be interesting!
In this round, we will feature the Final Four's best selling albums. It's really nice to see each and everyone's achievements over the years. This actually gives the show, American Idol, a cred in discovering and creating viable artists.
His self-titled debut album was released on November 11, 2008 and was certified Gold in less than three months. It debuted at #2 in the Billboard 200 and has sold 764,000 copies as of January 2011 in the United States. The first single off this single was his hit song Crush, which went on to sell 2 million copies in the United States.
Kelly Clarkson
Breakaway, her sophomore album, was released on November 30, 2004 and went on to become a certified six times platinum in the United States alone. It's also the fourth album in history to stay in the Billboard 200 Top 20 for a consecutive year and with 12 million copies sold worldwide, this is the most successful album of an American Idol contestant. This album also gave her two Grammy Awards for Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for her single Since U Been Gone.
This is a win-win poll. Both Kelly and David deserve to win as they are both phenomenal talents. I have voted for David because I have been in love with him since AI but I'm certainly Ok with a Kelly win.
No label for David Archuleta? It's by his choice because he kicked Jive's butt. Kelly was without any label for a while, so be civil. Don't you think too early to a 20 year old to call like that? When Kelly was 17, she didn't have any hit songs, just saying.
David Archuleta has had several hit songs outside the U.S. market. Jive was too broke (and quite literally breaking apart) to properly market him. However, Jive's parent company, Sony, has given him the promotion he deserves in the Asian market. David has been very successful there, and will be again in the U.S. with similar backing.

As a fan of both, this was a hard choice! What I would really like is to have @kelly_clarkson and @davidarchie record a duet and tour together! Two great voices together. Someone should make this happen! Hope I didn't post this twice - didn't go through the first time.
I think they are both amazing , both should win. I don't think it actually matters if one has a label or not, or if one was the first American Idol. This is a hard decision to make I think I wouldn't mind if Kelly, or David won. At the end, they are both great and successful singers with amazing personalities (:
I did not "bring down" Kelly in order to make David look better. I was simply pointing out the singing style she often employs. Some people actually like that rocker style of singing, but I don't. Am I not entitled to my own opinion?
The most OVERRATED contestant ever on AI is David Archuleta. So glad he is off the limelight, too boring. And he beats Kelly? He is going nowhere and his fans are delusional.
David is as famous as he wants to be. Calling us all delusional makes me laugh! If you only knew the level of intelligence and class we David fans carry. I'm patient. Watch this young man. He'll most definitely be around this business for a very long time. Oh, and he'll be successful as well.
