The Voice 6: Top 10 Results Show

Nailed it! Part of me didn't want the other one gone, but I digress. Based from the sing-off, the right person got saved. But it's pretty interesting how, Shakira and Usher are now left with one contestant each and it felt like Season 4 all over again when Usher only had Michelle Chamuel and Shakira had Sasha Allen. Whoa!

The Voice 6: Top 10

Yes, this was, yet again, another strong performance night for the voice. I didn't expect much this week as I felt like all of them did good last week that there's no way some of them could pull off a back-to-back solid performances, but a couple of them actually did prove me wrong. It was a pretty entertaining night, and I'm looking forward to next week. Ha!

Let's get on with the performances!

The Voice 6: Top 12 Studio Versions

As promised, here are the Top 12 Studio Versions of The Voice Season 6. There are some decent recordings in the mix, but a couple of them actually delivered some fantastic studio versions and that makes me a lot less worried with the rest of the season. Oh, and for this season's DAM's Pick, just look at the cover of this post.

Oh, and just like the American Idol post, I'll also include the rankings just for reference. So, here's how they peaked against other songs available on iTunes:

#4 Stay With Me - Josh Kaufman
#30 Stay - Kristen Merlin
#37 Anymore - Jake Worthington
#46 Dark Horse - Christina Grimmie
#94 Magic Man - Kat Perkins
#104 Don’t Let the Sun Go Down On Me - Sisaundra Lewis
#111 Angel of the Morning - Audra McLaughlin
#124 Unchained Melody - Delvin Choice
#131 Rolling In the Deep - Bria Kelly
#179 I’ll Be There For You - Tess Boyer
#286 Waiting On the World To Change - TJ Wilkins
#301 Just Give Me a Reason - Dani Moz

American Idol 13: Top 6 Studio Versions

This week, the remaining six finalists tackled Country and Rock songs, but unfortunately, they've only recorded one song this week. Not sure how the production - or the contestants - decided which one to record, but I digress.

Here's how Idols peaked against other songs available on iTunes:

#201 You're Still The One - Sam Woolf
#488 Sting Me - Caleb Johnson
#560 Barracuda - Jena Irene
#656 Jolene - Jessica Meuse
#723 Animal - Alex Preston

CJ Harris' recording didn't chart in the Top 1500 songs. Sad. Anyway, I'm enjoying Jena Irene and Caleb Johnson's recordings. That some real rock and roll recordings.

American Idol 13: Top 6 Results Show

CJ Harris. This was no surprise. We’ve been guessing CJ Harris would run out of luck for weeks now. He should be proud to finish in 6th place for somehow who's been spectacularly off key most of the time. CJ does know how to connect to almost every material he's been given, he lacks the technical ability to deliver something in tune. Harry Connick Jr. lectured him for most of his stay in the competition, and we've seen minimal improvement from him. Anyway, we wish him luck in what he does, but I’m glad he’s off to start his career. American Idol wasn’t in the cards.

American Idol 13: Top 6

It's Country and Rock week as the Top 6 took on an array of classics - or something to that effect - and managed to deliver yet another night where almost all of the contestants were in fine form. I genuinely didn't expect much from them, but it was actually a relatively strong night. As usual, there were lights flashing, cheering fans, and, as of recently, the obligatory close up shot of Jennifer Lopez's stank face. Haha. But yeah, that happened.

Anyway, Let us take a look at what the top 6 had in store for us tonight and who ended up on top and who might be leaving us this week!

The Voice 6: Top 12 Results Show

Hmm. Poor Shakira! She just can't get a break no? Coming into the live shows, I'd like to believe that she has a stronger team than Blake or Usher (save for Josh), but she just can't pick good songs for her contestants! Case in point, two of her three finalists are in the Bottom 3. I don't know. I loved both of them especially when they had that one-two punch last week with Edge of Glory and Human, but I digress.

Oh, and the Bottom 3 performing just before the Instant Save via twitter was a nice addition this season.

The Voice 6: Top 12

The first live show of The Voice Season 6 was an absolute mixed bag. Most of the song choices were either predictable and boring, and yet, this episode also showcased a couple of outstanding performances - probably one of the best this season. So yes, it could go either way if you're watching, but for what it was worth, I kind of enjoyed it.

So who did the best? On with the ranking!

American Idol 13: Top 7 Studio Versions

It's an interesting theme: Competitor's Pick. Of course, no one really sabotaged anyone, but a couple of people really stood out. One actually made a huge impression that she could very well be leading the pack now.

Here's how they ranked and peaked against other songs available on iTunes:

#31 Creep - Jena Irene
#121 A Team - Alex Preston
#162 Sail Away - Sam Woolf
#217 Family Tree - Caleb Johnson
#520 Gravity - CJ Harris
#1107 Gunpowder & Lead - Jessica Meuse
#1289 Muckalee Creek Water - Dexter Roberts

As for my favorites, Jena Irene sounded fantastic and I also enjoyed Caleb's and Sam's. That is all.

DAM NATION: April 2014 Playlist

Again, there's way too many songs, but so little spot! Haha. This month, we have a pretty diverse song selection and that somehow makes this playlist more interesting. I hope you'll enjoy most of them. So yes, here's another list of 15 songs that I (personally) fancy, that are already doing good on it's own and maybe some new singles from different artists that will probably - or maybe not - be hits in the next coming weeks in whatever format.

Enjoy!

1 Summer Calvin Harris
2 Latch Disclosure (ft. Sam Smith)
3 Burning Gold Christina Perri
4 Blue Eyed Lie Jessica Meuse

American Idol 13: Top 7 Results Show

Dexter Roberts. Well, this wasn’t much of a surprise. Dexter has been turning in mediocre performances from the beginning of the competition with only a precious few standouts and he should be extremely proud for ending as this season's 7th place finisher. He should have tried a little harder to lock up the country vote, but he never seemed to truly do so. There is a possibility that he could be a marketable artist after a lot of work, but right now, he’ll have to settle on a national tour and the money that goes along with it.

As for Jessica, I just couldn't help myself but root for her. The judges are being hard on her "performing" when they don't even ask Alex to move around. Why can't they get the same "artist" edit? It's a bit frustrating to see them bus Jessica when she's clearly better than CJ. Ugh. She needs to nail her performances next week or she could be in some serious trouble.

American Idol 13: Top 7

This week is very important because it marks the halfway point of the Finals. It’s time for these contestants to take it to another level and prove to us that they have what it takes to win. I fully expect to see that next week, because tonight was a wake-up call for them especially after Malay Watson left last week despite the massive improvement she showcased the past few weeks.

I thought the performances were REALLY good and that adds up to this rollercoaster of a season. Other than that insight and the fact that they showed countless of Jennifer Lopez close ups the entire episode, I have nothing more to add. As always, I placed the contestants accordingly, and while the night seemed fairly easy to rank the elimination is once again slightly unpredictable.

The Voice 6: Playoffs #TeamUsher

I initially thought Usher had the best team coming into the Playoffs, but now that he's down to his Final 3, I genuinely think that Shakira and Blake somehow managed to build stronger teams coming into the Live Rounds. But again, what do I know. Again, let's see how things will pan out come next week.

The Voice 6: Playoffs #TeamAdam

I'm baffled. Adam usually gets the best singers every season - until he screws them up with his song choices and mentoring - but somehow, that's not happening this season. Sure, he still one of the most hyped contestants with Christina Grimmie, but she's just exactly that, pure hype. Let's see how things will pan out after the Playoffs.

On to the performances!

The Voice 6: Playoffs #TeamShakira

Coming into the Playoffs, I figured that Shakira had the weakest team and she clearly sabotaged herself when she slowly eliminated the more interesting artists in her group, but somehow there's actually a method to her madness no? Yes, Team Shakira ended up being better than I thought. Who knew?

American Idol 13: Top 8 Redux Results Show

Malaya Watson. I think Malaya deserved to stay at the very least two more weeks, and still can’t, for the life of me, understand what people see in CJ Harris. He’s a great man, but he just can't sing in tune. Oh well. Malaya just lost this week. The moment she sang Chaka Khan's Through The Fire the countdown clock began and her days were numbered. It wasn't bad, but I didn't think it was accessible enough to trump the anomaly that is CJ Harris, who's already in the Final 7 without even singing a single song in tune. It's a bit frustrating because she's getting her groove back and she's undeniably the most improved since Runaway Baby. Sigh. I’m really going to miss Malaya's character and spirit.

Also, why did they announce just the Bottom 2? Could Sam Woolf be the third person and since they want to justify the save, they magically made it to just two people? Interesting.

American Idol 13: Top 8 Redux Studio Versions

Sam Woolf got saved last week so we're back with 8 finalists and this time they tackled the 80s catalogue and the result was less than stellar. Heck, even the studio recording didn't resonate with me. Nothing stood out and that's a very rare thing to happen.

Here's how they ranked against other songs available on iTunes (as of 7:00pm EST).

#101 Every Breath You Take - Alex Preston
#164 Faithfully - Caleb Johnson
#201 Time After Time - Sam Woolf
#793 Free Fallin' - CJ Harris

I'm not surprised that we're only seeing half of them charting on iTunes - most songs were outdated and overdone. And yes, as I've said, pretty underwhelming.

American Idol 13: Top 8 Redux

And we continue the express roller coaster ride of Season 13! I don't know. Last week, everyone performed impressively, but somehow - just when the judges already used their SAVE last week - the remaining eight (8) finalists delivered underwhelming performances. Whyyy?

I mean, they've got David Cook as a mentor, who I thought was outstanding, and a pretty huge list of songs to choose from. Yes, the theme was less than exciting, but they could've been bolder in picking their songs no? Things are getting a little frustrating! Oh, and Harry Connick Jr's antics tonight somehow annoyed me. Again, whyyyy?

The Voice 6: Playoffs #TeamBlake

Finally! We're done with the Battle Rounds! Haha. I'm NEVER a big fan of that round because it makes some singers get obnoxious with oversinging and I like contestants who shine on their own and not when sharing a song with a competitor. Oh, and who's idea was it to do a second round of Battles? Ugh.

But I digress. The Playoffs are here and it's time for them to really showcase their full potential. Now, I admit, I'm not usually fond of Team Blake, but he somehow managed to build a fairly strong team this season and the people who are going through to the live rounds are pretty solid. Let's see how they'll stack up with the rest of the team.

American Idol 13: Top 8 Studio Versions

They're down to 8! They performed their Audition Songs and all of them delivered some precious live performances - including two original songs! I hope they keep the momentum going in the next coming weeks.

Here's how they ranked against other songs available on iTunes (as of 11:00pm EST).

#39 Fairytales - Alex Preston
#117 Blue Eyed Lie - Jessica Meuse
#121 Lego House - Sam Woolf
#212 Rolling In The Deep - Jena Irene
#298 One Mississippi - Dexter Roberts
#442 Soul Shine - CJ Harris
#671 Ain't No Way - Malaya Watson
#743 Chain of Fools - Caleb Johnson

That's right! Everyone ranked inside the Top 1000. I wonder though if this batch will ever produce a hit from the show. I mean, Alex & Sierra from the lousy X Factor US topped the iTunes chart twice during last season. Anyway, check out Alex Preston and Jessica Meuse's original songs! Fantastic!

American Idol 13: Top 8 Results Show

Sam Woolf. You're lucky the judges saved you, but to be honest, that's just about fine with me because I'll be annoyed if he get eliminated before CJ Harris and Dexter Roberts. Majesty went home already before them already! Enough. That said, I'm scared for Jena Irene, Jessica Meuse and Malaya Watson. They need to step up or they'll be bumped out by the country boys.

American Idol 13: Top 8

It’s Audition Songs week on American Idol and the verdict is in.. What! A! Night! This episode was terrible for me! How am I supposed to make fun of one of the most impressive episodes this season. After watching this episode, I just stared at my monitor and asked myself, "What the hell do I do now?" Haha. Sure, I came up with a ranking, but even the person at the bottom of my list turned in a better than average performance. What got into these kids?

Oh, and we got to hear for the first time EVER original songs on the show and the results were more than surprising.  Also, I have a funny feeling that we may see a surprise entry in the bottom three tomorrow. Luckily, we still have the save. I believe you could make an argument for 6 out of the 8 to be saved no?

On to the rankings!
