Call me crazy, but I always thought - Pia Toscano to Pop is what Carrie Underwood is to Country. I mean, both were criticized during their American Idol stints to be robots, but they proved to be more than that after the show. I mean, look at them now! Of course, we have to wait and see if Pia Toscano will be as big as Carrie Underwood.

This is her most successful single as of August 2011 with sales of 3.3 million digital downloads, making it the second most sold single of an American Idol contestant, the fourth longest-charting single in the history of the Billboad Hot 100, and the fourth best-selling country song of all time. This song also ranked at #6 on the 2007 Hot 100 Year-End Chart. Total crossover success.

Of course, this is a relatively new song, but the song got an arguably good reception. In its debut week, the single sold 19,000 copies. The day after her performance on So You Think You Can Dance, the song shot up to #36 on iTunes and sales went up by 21,000. As of August 16, 2011, digital sales is at 65,000. This is pretty impressive for a song that hasn't got any radio airplay. The fact that her song hasn’t fallen off of the iTunes chart as of this date is amazing.

The single has sold 1.9 million copies as of March 4, 2010.

According to Billboard, the song offers an uplifting message about believing in destiny and the song’s bridge and climax brings John Mayer’s early material to mind. The single sold over 18,000 copies in its first week of release and has sold a total of 44,000 copies as of December 8, 2010. Oh, and Lee is now engaged to her love interest in this music video! Talk about some Sweet Serendipity!

Concert: American Idol Season 10 Live Tour in Manila Extends For Another Night

Guess what? Due to insistent public demand, the American Idol Live Tour in Manila extends for another night. Yes, the concert will be back-to-back from September 20-21, 2011 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum! This is beyond amazing!

According to Manila Standard Today:

Such is the clamor for the season 10 finalists of American Idol, that Ovation Productions and Solar TV have added another playdate to their concert tour here in Manila. Tickets which have been on sale since July, have reportedly been snapped up within weeks, convincing organizers to add one more playdate to their Philippine tour.

There are also rumors that the set list will slightly change to give Thia Megia more songs on the said concert (Right now, she only has one solo and a couple of group numbers). The article also mentioned that, "A separate request for a duet between Megia and McCreery, however, is still up in the air."

Very interesting. I wonder who'll get a lesser exposure because of this mix up. I hope it's not Haley Reinhart or Pia Toscano, or I'll punch someone in the soul. Just saying.

IDOL Tournament: Round 4 Introduction

.. and yes, Round 3 is done and we're moving on to the next round where only 16 Idols are left.

Again, every day at 10PM EST over the next few weeks, I’ll launch a new set of duels. The polls will be up for 48 hours, and the winner will obviously moves on to Round 5.

For this round, I will feature their greatest hits (music videos) post-American Idol. However, I don't know what I should put for Haley Reinhart and Casey Abrams who are still in this tournament - Pia Toscano has a single (and music video) so she's alright. Any suggestions?

The Sing-Off Season 3: Extended Preview

Just when I thought the American Idol - The Voice - Glee trio last March was the hardest to cover as they almost overlapped each other, here comes the Glee - X Factor US - The Sing-Off combo to keep me awfully busy in the next coming months. Seriously. Will I be able to keep up?

The Sing-Off is like American Idol meets Glee - the perfect show for me! Haha.

To be honest, The Sing-Off is technically one of the best singing competitions out there! The groups were incredibly talented, the song choices and themes were very interesting and they've got the BEST judges EVER! I mean, the judges were articulate and they gave detailed constructive criticisms, especially Ben Folds. Plus, Sara Bareilles replaces Nicole Scherzinger as a judge. How can they go wrong with that?

I have to be honest, last season of Glee was a disaster, but I'm still looking forward to this. I like that they traded the slushies in for dodgeballs. I wonder if they will do the same with the single covers this season. Anwyay, enjoy!!
