Movie Review: Pacific Rim
It's awfully rare when there's so much smashing of metals (and monsters) to
actually find a real good story to go along with it, but Pacific Rim did just that to great effect. No, I wouldn't say that I was blown away by it's creativity or originality
just because some of the plot elements felt vastly familiar, but there was a brilliant story to be told here. The narration was good, the pacing was decent, and the imagery was fantastic. The fight sequences were also brilliantly choreographed and the epic clash between the Jaegers and Kaiju - especially the one in Hong Kong - had a stunning stylistic flair to it. I found myself a little distracted by the wooden performances of some actors, but that's nothing but a minor issue. As a visual experience, Pacific Rim was quite a marvel, but the film's success actually went beyond the plethora of action. 8.5

The Sons of Anarchy got tired of riding their Harleys and dealing drugs and went Kaiju-hunting instead.
