American Idol 15: Top 24 (Group 1) All-Star Duets & Results

American Idol, I get it. The show is ending and what happened tonight made that loud and clear. No, the episode wasn't fantastic - some of the finalists faltered when forced to sing with seasoned American Idol alums - but the nostalgia that these past contestants brought on that stage was both heartwarming and sad.

It's been a long journey with the show and to see the growth of each one of them since their Idol stint made me emotional. Lauren Alaina, in particular, was a scared teenage girl when she joined five years ago and looked how awesome she sounded on her duets. I'm sad, but happy sad. If that makes sense.

On with the results show!

12. Gianna Isabella (with Nick Fradiani)
Beautiful Life
No. 3.5

11. Thomas Stringfellow (with Nick Fradiani)
Man In The Mirror
Why didn't Nick say something about that annoying squeak? 3.5

10. Jenna Renae (with Scotty McCreery)
See You Tonight
Zzzz. 4

09. Jeneve Rose Mitchell (with Scotty McCreery)
Gone
The unbridled energy and enthusiasm was fun to watch, but Jeneve was a mess. 4.5

08. MacKenzie Bourg (with Lauren Alaina)
I Hope You Dance
This came off as if Lauren asked an audience to sing with her on stage. 5

07. James Dawson VIII (with Caleb Johnson)
Gimme Shelter
Thank God for Caleb. 6

06. Jordan Sasser (with Fantasia)
I Believe
Thank God for Fantasia. 7

05. Avalon Young (with Ruben Studdard)
Flying Without Wings
Didn't expect Avalon to hold her own against Ruben. 7

04. Stephany Negrete (with Ruben Studdard)
Superstar
Same with Stephany! 7

03. Emily Brooke (with Lauren Alaina)
Flat On The Floor
Dear judges, I beg to disagree. Yes, Lauren was glorious on this song, but Emily was good. Much better than yesterday. 7

02. Sonika Vaid (with Caleb Johnson)
Skyfall
She's still stiff, but at least she's making progress. Her voice sounded like a powerful butter. Ha. 7

01. La'Porsha Renae (with Fantasia)
Summertime
FANTASTIC! 9

RESULTS
La'Porsha Renae
Sonika Vaid
Avalon Young
Gianna Isabella
Thomas Stringfellow
MacKenzie Bourg
Jeneve Rose Mitchell

ELIMINATED
Emily Brooke
Stephany Negrete
James Dawson VIII
Jordan Sasser
Jenna Renae

When I learned about the results prior to the performances, I was furious with Emily Brooke's elimination. After last night, I thought the judges had enough reason to eliminate her based on her solo performance yesterday. However, when they advanced Gianna Isabella and Thomas Stringfellow over Emily Brooke or even Stephany Negrete, it left a bad taste in my mouth. Why judges, why?

It's funny how short but on point your reviews are.

I think the reason why they can't seem to send Gianna home is, according to what I've read online, her mom is friends or at least connected with J Lo. I don't know.

Anyway, Stephany obviously did better than Gianna but they decided to keep the daughter of the ex pop star. What a shame.

Did anyone else have a hardy laugh when J-Lo was the one to call Gianna through? Because I did.
