Olympics of Reality Singing Shows 2016: The Honorable Mentions

On it's fourth year, the Olympics of Reality Singing Shows is back - and now, with a logo!

Just like last year, DAM NATION assembled thirty (30) reality singing show enthusiasts from different countries to come up with a definite list of the 25 Best Reality Singing Show Performances of the year from the four (4) biggest franchises - The Voice, Idol, X Factor, Got Talent - across the globe.

Yes, we're talking about editions of The Voice from Albania, Nigeria, Holland, USA and more, as well as editions of X Factor from Greece, Italy, Brazil and more, or even the Idol franchise from Norway, Netherlands, and America. It was a fun little challenge for this year's panel.

Now, let's begin the countdown with the five [5] performances that ALMOST made the cut.

30. SEVEN NATION ARMY
Norah Benatia
Idol Norway

It was risky for Norah to choose vibe over overbearing vocals and grit over glory notes, but the effort to make something different and vastly interesting with this almost Postmodern Jukebox version of Seven Nation Army was arguably appreciated by some of the panel that five (5) of them even ranked the performance within their Top 15.

29. HELLO
Christian Cuevas & Jasion Warrior
The Voice US (Fall)

This Battle almost seemed like a blowout - with Christian Cuevas being an early heavy favorite - but Jason Warrior raised his game immensely, using his powerful vocals and impressive range to execute daring runs and unexpected ad libs that brought the words of the song to vivid life. Not to take anything away from Christian though because he was right up there with Jason all throughout, which made this one of the most riveting battle performances of the year.

-----

28. BLUE BAYOU
Alisan Porter
The Voice US (Spring)

As one jury mentioned, Blue Bayou was Alisan Porter's greatest moment on the show. Sure, she had a string of great performances as she marched her way to The Voice win last spring, but here, one can't deny that she sounded like an absolute vocal beast on the full-throttle wail towards the end of the song. Interesting though how split the jury were with this performance posting one of the highest standard deviations of the year.

-----

27. DEMONS
Andrew Loadsman
The Voice Australia

One of the most exhilarating Blind Auditions of the year came from Andrew Loadsman and his superb version of Demons. The way he punched and parried his way through the song, offering bursts of incredible power, then reeling it all the way back in, was downright masterful - enough for the jury to include him as one of the honorable mentions.

-----

26. ROSES
Chike Ekeoma
The Voice Nigeria

While most contestants approach the Blind Auditions with a laser-focused emphasis on big vocals, Chike went with an understated song by James Arthur with warmth and rich quality to his vocals. It didn't have the vocal bombast that usually make coaches turn their chairs, but what he had was something more special.

*Scoreboard - Ranking of each jury per performance. 1 to 64 with 1 being the best/highest.

STAY TUNED FOR THE TOP 25
