The Voice 7: The Knockouts Part 1

The Battle Round is finally done - yes, I don't review them for the most part - and The Knockout Round is here. I'm still not particularly fond of this stage of the competition as I feel like some of the pairings are a little unfair, but I digress. Tonight, there were a couple of great good performances, and one decision that's totally annoying.

Oh, and Taylor Swift was actually a good mentor no?

Bryana Salaz
Heart Attack
Tough song. She started off way behind the melody, but it all off towards the end. Some of the notes she was hitting was pretty impressive. Oh, and she somehow reminds me of Jacquie Lee.

Sugar Jones
Love On Top
Her vocals were mostly on point with a couple of interesting phrasing choices, but her growls were distracting and they were oddly placed.

He's country and I didn't really mind. There's an effortlessness in his delivery that I liked and the choices he made with the melody were lovely.

Pedestrian version of a Justin Bieber song. Yes, of a Justin Bieber song! Ha.

Hated the song, but she sang it beautifully. She showcased range, dynamics, and control.

The arrangement sounded choppy, but her vocals were strong and commanded attention. She needs to work on her diction though.

Ok. Yes, he sounded great with fantastic vocal control, but this was too dated and boring for my taste. When will you sing something more modern that this?

CRAZY! This was really entertaining, her vocals were spot on, and she looked confident on that stage.
