Oh, and yes, I deliberately didn't include the duets in this review. It's a waste of time on my part, I think. Haha.
On with the show!
CHRISTMAS SONGS
[TEAM BLAKE]
NOOO! NOT THIS ARRANGEMENT! UGH. 2
O Holy Night
[TEAM GWEN]
Whoa. This was a hot mess. Not entirely sure if he had problems hearing himself, but his vocals were weirdly all over the place. Plus, he looked like he preferred to be somewhere else than sing this song. Haha. 3
Blue Christmas
[TEAM BLAKE]
Bland. Boring. Forgettable. Hey Emily, what happened? 4
Mary, Did You Know?
[TEAM ADAM]
Of course, he nailed it. It felt like this was the culmination of all the pandering and it was quite lovely. Nothing more to say. 8
SOLO
[TEAM ADAM]
Again, this was a strong vocal performance - if a little thin with his belting notes and a tad overwrought - but he had absolutely no connection to the material. It was as if he's there to impress with his vocal ability and nothing else. There's no emotional deft whatsoever. 5
Stay
[TEAM GWEN]
This was a lot better than his Christmas song, but again, the choppy phrasing and the weird modulation of his voice pulled me out of this performance. There's something oddly harsh about his vocals that I didn't quite enjoy this as much as I expected. 6
Die A Happy Man
[TEAM BLAKE]
This was good, but not particularly interesting. I thought his vocals were solid and the lack of the usual execessive production made this sound a little more authentic than usual. 6.5
Burning House
[TEAM BLAKE]
Easily her best performance this season. An understated and sublime rendition of a song delivered with palpable emotions and fantastic vocals. She may just be The Voice's next country star. 8.5
WHO SHOULD WIN?
Emily Ann Roberts
WHO WILL WIN?
Jordan Smith
