The Voice 7: Playoffs #TeamBlake

I didn't think Blake Shelton had much this season, but his team delivered some nice performances. Not sure if the next winner will be in this bunch, but what do I know. Blake's been pretty stellar in carrying mediocre singers into the finals. Ha! I kid.

On with the show!

05. Taylor Brashears
Long Time Gone
Rough. I did enjoy Taylor during The Knockouts, but this was really weak. She seemed a bit behind the melody, she had some serious breath issues, and her pitch went all over the place. Plus, that fiddle was anything more than a prop no? 4

04. James David Carter
Two Of A Kind, Workin' On A Full House
I had high hope from him - his Blind Audition was superb - but he's turning out to be too generic and mediocre for my taste. He continues to be a reliable country singer, but bland as hell. 5

03. Jessie Pitts
Holding Out For A Hero
I actually enjoyed Ellie Goulding Jessie's version of the song.  The arrangement was interesting and creative, her vocals were, for the most part, spot on, and there's a nice subtlety to her delivery that I enjoyed. Just lovely. 7

02. Reagan James
Try
This was a MASSIVE improvement from the slur that was Hit 'Em Up Style. It was a little breathy in parts, and she hit a couple of bad notes towards the end, but this was easily one of the best performances of the night. Her phrasing was fantastic, and her tone worked well with the song. 7

01. Craig Wayne Boyd
Some Kind Of Wonderful
Not a fan of the song choice - Really, Blake? - but he made the most out of it. He was incredibly charismatic, his voice sounded good, and there's a presence that's undeniable. 7.5
