Idol News: Lee DeWyze's Album Sold Lower Than Any Other 'Idol' Winner

The numbers are out and it's confirmed! Lee DeWyze debuts at #19 on The Billboard 200!!

Susan Boyle, as expected, pulled the biggest number for this week's album releases with sales of 335,000 copies, which was a rare 5% increase from her last week's sales. The 10-year-old America's Got Talent runner-up Jackie Evancho came in second with 239,000 copies sold. A couple of big names also released their albums last week including Rihanna, who came in third with 207,000 copies and Josh Groban with 191,000 copies for the fourth place. Glee's Christmas album even started with a decent number at eighth with 161,000 copies.

Now, for our main man, Lee DeWyze! He debuts at #19 this week with a disappointing 39,000 copies. It is indeed way off compared to the other American Idol winners - even with Kris Allen. Kris Allen, the album, debuted at #11 last year and his numbers were higher compared to Lee. Overall, this makes Lee DeWyze the lowest selling album debut for an American Idol winner and the 26th highest selling first week album debut for an Idol contestant just beating Allison Iraheta and behind Tamyra Gray.

To be honest, I’m a little disappointed but not surprised that Lee’s final sales aren’t higher for its first week. I think this numbers are really bad and there’s no other way to spin this. Could Season 9 be the season where there's absolutely no breakout star? Somehow, I kind of feel bad for Lee, I guess there was really no interest in this season, which was reflected from iTunes sales, tour sales, and now album sales. Personally, this is not going to be pretty for Crystal Bowersox or Casey James either. Let's see.

So he's currently AI's Biggest Loser. I felt it even before he won, judging by his Slumberland album. I still rooted for him, though.

Will: Yeah. You can put it that way. But somehow, I really liked his album. I gave it a an album rating much higher than Adam Lambert's debut album.
